1. Any scientific discipline qualifies for funding by the CELSA Research Fund.

2.The ’CELSA Research Fund‘ will fund collaborative research projects between researchers of at least two CELSA partners, of which one must be KU Leuven. The ‘CELSA partners’ are:

  • Budapest Univeristy of Technology and Economics (BME), Hungary
  • Charles Univeristy (CUNI), Czech Republic
  • Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), Czech Republic
  • Eotvos Lorand Univeristy (ELTE), Hungary
  • KU Leuven, Belgium
  • Semmelweis Univeristy, Hungary
  • Unversity of Ljubljana (UL), Slovenia
  • Jagiellonian University, Poland
  • University of Warsaw, Poland

3. The CELSA Fund will fund joint research projects with a maximum of €130.000 for a duration of 2 years. KU Leuven’s financial contribution is a maximum of €100,000, the Partner’s contribution is a maximum of €30,000. The budget of the Polish side is financed by university funds from IDUB, and is entirely intended to finance direct costs of the Polish side. The remuneration is determined in accordance with the UW Rector’s Order No. 75 of April 17, 2020 and No.93 of September 11,2024.

4.Within 3 years from the start of the project, the project consortium is required to submit a joint application to Horizon Europe (or to its successor or any other competitive European fund).

The 4EU+ Grant Support Service (GSS) is a team of professional grant support officers who help the academic staff of the 4EU+ member universities with questions about funding opportunities within the 4EU+ network. The GSS combines services provided by local grant support offices at all universities of the 4EU+ Alliance with a comprehensive selection of relevant calls from the Alliance, as well as other funders, such as Horizon Europe.

COST funds interdisciplinary research networks called COST Actions. These Actions bring together researchers to collaborate on research topics for a period of 4 years.

The funding a COST Action receives covers the expenses of networking activities rather than research.

EMBO provides support for the life sciences in Europe and beyond. It funds researchers as well as conferences, training and networking activities to help create an environment in which scientists can excel.

The Foundation regularly awards grants in two separate calls:

  • Main call for research projects; the maximum amount of funds is 150 thousand euros,
  • Simplified call for scientific events, conferences, etc., and smaller research projects; the maximum amount of funds is €10,000.
